The Reserve covers over 979km2, which of the only 141km is open to the public, as the reserve is mostly made up of parkland and scrub jungle along with beaches, lagoons, freshwater lakes, rivers, enormous rocky outcrops, and dense jungle. Yala is one of the best places to see Leopards, boasting the highest concentration of leopards in the world: the park is also home to many Asian elephants, sloth bears, spotted deers, crocodiles, wild boars, water buffalos, grey languor and several other species of large animals.
